Television experience
Although my BBC placement was in local radio, I have gained many skills relevant to TV.

Interviewed on live TV!
I was asked by the most watched show in the southwest (BBC Spotlight) to do a live interview on the evening programme. I spoke about my apprenticeship scheme so that as many people as possible were aware of it's benefits before applications for the new cohort closed.

Footage and acts lead BBC Spotlight top story
I went to interview a pub landlord that hadn't seen a single customer for 2 nights in a row. When I got there and spoke to some other people, I realised there was potential for a radio package, a digital video and shots for TV.
The team at BBC Spotlight were impressed by what I'd filmed so used all my sequence shots and acts as part of a bigger package on struggling local hospitality.

Self-shooting solo reporter for BBC Spotlight
I recorded two different OOV/Acts for BBC News in the South West whilst also reporting for Radio Cornwall.
My footage from the Truro Primestock Show was broadcast the same evening and was described as "an ideal example of what to send for an OOV/ACT" by the editor.
The Gweek Seal Sanctuary OOV/ACT was also scheduled to be broadcast but the World Cup stopped it from going out.

TV package training and OB shadowing
I had an exciting training week at BBC Spotlight too. From helping with edits and social content to shadowing live show production, I learnt so much.

Presenting BBC Spotlight social content
I have presented and filmed multiple stories for the TV news' Instagram and Facebook pages. To cover stories for their +250k followers has been thoroughly enjoyable!
Here are two of my intros to give you a flavour of the content I've worked on!

Camera training
I have received BBC Academy standard training on various cameras used in the television industry. I've also applied this knowledge when shooting two completely different short films.

BBC Sport shadowing
Whilst on a training week at Media City, I had the chance to shadow BBC Sport's coverage of the World Athletic Championships.
I loved watching how the set was assembled both physically and digitally from the gallery. It was definitely an environment I would like to experience again!
