Video Editing

And to check out how I gather and analyse data about content I've worked on...

Social Media Portfolio

I really enjoy producing social media content for all the channels in the South West. I have covered as social producer for lots of weeks and I'm responsible for BBC Cornwall's top 4 performing posts! Have a scroll through my highlights so far:

I edited this montage for the 'Fight Like A Girl' series. It was used in a team meeting with the Director-General to 'perfectly illustrate' the 'work we are doing in the digital space'.

Puncbag Hit

Two national BBC Sport shares on my videos

In a fortnight, BBC Sport's Twitter shared two videos I produced, resulting in +100k views for both of them.

I often help staff with video editing. Whilst showing one person - who'd never used FCP before - how to edit, I produced this video that achieved +400k social views.

Viral Flora Day coverage!

I gave live updates and promoted upcoming radio interviews on Twitter, produced a Facebook Live of the first dance before editing a multi-platform montage of the day.

The Facebook content went viral, reaching 900k people and the other social posts received significantly higher engagement than most of Radio Cornwall’s output. Additional content I shot using the MoJo Kit was also used by regional TV and online news.

Reel-y Good Content

Recently, I have been creating more social reels. I enjoy both presenting and directing other colleagues then editing it all together. These are my favourites so far...

Studio visualisation

I have also been using this new format and have been trained on our Airmix multi-camera visualisation software to speed up video production. This BBC Introducing interview with Ollie Dixon is an example of the numerous pieces I have shot and edited. Dan Pascoe, the presenter, said “engagement on the post increased tenfold because of the video. His editing was slick and professional and I believe that was reflected in the success of the post”.

Posts across regional TV and Radio social channels

I self-shot and produced 2 different social posts for Facebook and Instagram about the busy times at Gweek's Seal Sanctuary. I made these videos alongside 3 radio pieces and a TV OOV/Act.

The Facebook video was solely edited by me and was cross-posted on BBC Spotlight, Radio Cornwall and Radio Devon. It's reached over 4.1k views too.

I also presented this BBC Spotlight Instagram Reel that has hit over 5.2k views.

Candy-house BBC News Reel!

I presented and co-filmed a BBC Spotlight Instagram Reel telling the story of this very creative gingerbread house and its designer. I scripted everything myself and make sure I recorded acts that worked with my script.

Directed, presented and edited an insight into my job!

I produced this digital video in the run-up to the new Radio Cornwall apprenticeship deadline. The scheme has changed my life and I wanted to give everyone else the chance to have the same opportunities. It also demonstrates how much I managed to do in my first year at the BBC.

Best Dog in the UK

This was part of a solo multi-platform project which you can check out here. I self-shot, reported and edited videos for BBC Spotlight's Instagram and Radio Cornwall's Facebook using a mobile filming kit and FCPX. It was cross-posted by Radio Cornwall and Spotlight on FB (watch it here)!

Transgender artist dueting with their former voice

I edited together Dylan Holloway's story from scratch for BBC Introducing and Radio Cornwall. During the editing process, I also directed and filmed a large amount of footage that was used in the finished social video.

Charities struggling with the cost of living

Part of my multimedia coverage of the Hugs Foundation. I used them as a case study for the animal and mental health charities trying to stay afloat during the winter. Solely organised, shot and edited alongside two radio interviews and a long-form package (click here to hear them) all by myself.

School dinner edit reaching +42k views

Utilising the raw rushes shot for a BBC Spotlight package, I edited together this video to appeal to Facebook audiences (both in form and style). Instead of a presenter telling the story, I used narrative text and creative structuring to keep the content moving.

Leaves

Leaf clearing 4x4 on trainlines

Using rushes from a BBC SW News TV package, I produced this social media video that was cross-posted on Radio Cornwall and BBC Spotlight socials. It reached +8.4k views and has over a hundred reactions too.

Flora Day 2022 video reached +41k views on Facebook

After a joint reporter and assistant producer shift at Helston's Flora Day celebrations, I edited this video together on the journey back to the studio (out of footage I recorded). This meant we could post it quickly after the event and meant it was shared a lot. It is currently on 41,000 views and hundreds of reactions.
